FTI Consulting Expands Global Information Governance, Privacy & Security Practice

Press release

Washington, D.C., April 12, 2021 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the Company’s Technology segment has expanded its global Information Governance, Privacy & Security (“IGP&S”) practice with the addition of experts across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (“EMEA”) region and Australia. Ben Crew, Amber Gosney, Luisa Resmerita, Inés Rubio and Tim de Souza will extend the practice’s reach and bolster its ability to support clients’ governance, risk and compliance needs over an increasingly complex global regulatory landscape.

“The events of the past year have placed a tremendous amount of pressure on organizations, especially from an information governance perspective,” said Jake Frazier, a Senior Managing Director and Head of the IGP&S practice within the Technology segment at FTI Consulting. “Organizations are navigating a highly charged regulatory environment within which data—which continues to grow in volume, diversity and distribution—is now a focal point. As a result, our practice has experienced increasing, worldwide demand for information governance, data governance and data privacy expertise. Our team is expanding to meet that demand and support clients as they assess and address their new and legacy data risks.”

Mr. Crew, a Senior Director based in Dubai and Head of the IGP&S practice in the Middle East and North Africa, is an accomplished, certified privacy professional with more than 12 years of experience in the region. He has served on and led numerous merger, regulatory and privacy projects—in in-house and outside consultant roles—for two of the largest banks and the largest hotel chain in the Middle East and North Africa. In one of those engagements, he built and ran the company’s GDPR program, and he has served as a data privacy officer for several companies in the region. At FTI Consulting, he is focused on building relationships throughout the region and growing a team of domain experts in the regulatory and data privacy nuances of key jurisdictions.

Based in London, Ms. Gosney joined FTI Consulting’s IGP&S practice as a Senior Director. She brings nearly a decade of project management experience and is an expert in leveraging technology to solve client challenges. Ms. Gosney is rejoining FTI Consulting after five years in information governance and e-discovery roles at Ankura and Navigant. She has led diverse and complex projects, including data privacy remediation programs, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, M&A reviews and second requests, internal investigations and data subject access requests. She holds a CIPP/E data privacy certification and is an expert in GDPR compliance.

Ms. Resmerita, a Director based in London, is a certified data protection advisor, an International Association of Privacy Professionals Fellow of Information Privacy and holds CIPP/E, CIPP/A, CIPT and CIPM certifications. She brings a deep background in international commercial law and focuses on supporting clients throughout their global privacy journey, including maturity assessments, remediation, operationalization and management of data protection compliance and associated risks and costs. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, she served in technology, implementation and compliance consulting roles at Accenture, OneTrust and Ankura.

Based in Dublin, Ms. Rubio is a Senior Director and certified expert across technical and legal data privacy, IG and e-discovery matters. With a deep background in international criminal law and legal technology, as well as expertise spanning digital forensics, governance, security and privacy, she is highly focused on helping clients develop strategy at the intersection between e-discovery and IG. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, she served as Head of Information Management and Incident Response at BSI and has held numerous legal, e-discovery and digital forensics positions, including a role at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

Based in Sydney, Mr. de Sousa is a Senior Director and supports corporate and government clients in establishing and optimizing their privacy compliance postures, enabling effective digital transformation and reinforcing trust. He brings more than 15 years of experience working at the intersection of privacy, IG, emerging technologies and digital transformation throughout Australia, Asia-Pacific and Europe. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. de Sousa held senior data privacy and compliance roles with Westpac, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the New South Wales Government Department of Customer Service and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. He also served as a strategic and operational consultant to major Australian organizations, including Qantas and nbn Co.

“The combined effects of rapidly accelerating digitalization to support remote work, massive data proliferation and a stringent regulatory environment have elevated IG to a board-level priority,” said Sonia Cheng, a Senior Managing Director and Head of the EMEA IGP&S practice at FTI Consulting. “Ben, Amber, Luisa, Inés and Tim are the foremost experts in IG and data privacy in their regions and are well-positioned to help us launch new services and solutions that align with our clients’ evolving needs.”
