Washington, D.C., May 11, 2022 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced that the firm’s Technology segment has appointed data privacy expert Todd Ruback as a Managing Director in its Information Governance, Privacy & Security ("IGP&S") practice.
Mr. Ruback, who is based in New York, brings more than 17 years of experience working at the intersection of privacy, advertising technology ("AdTech") and online advertising. He advises clients on privacy and data protection issues, with a specific focus on consent management and governance for data practices arising from online tracking technologies.
"Data privacy is an increasingly urgent issue for organizations in the U.S. and globally, particularly as it relates to user consent and the use of online tracking and advertising technologies,” said Jake Frazier, a Senior Managing Director and the global Head of the IGP&S practice within FTI Technology. “General counsel and data privacy officers are struggling to align the need for strong data protection practices with the business imperative of effectively engaging with consumers online. Todd brings a wealth of experience in this nuanced field of data privacy and is well positioned to help our clients follow best practices, comply with a patchwork of regulatory requirements and maintain effective digital marketing activities."
Mr. Ruback oversees privacy engagements including the adoption of new technologies, AdTech risk assessments and governance, consent and preference management, design of target operating models and privacy in cloud migration. His background combines compliance expertise, technical knowledge and hands-on experience in designing and implementing customized solutions for each client.
Prior to joining FTI Technology, Mr. Ruback served as Director, Privacy and Data Protection at Promontory Financial Group, a part of IBM Consulting. He has also held leadership roles at organizations including J.P Morgan Chase and Evidon. As Chief Privacy Officer and General Counsel at Evidon, Mr. Ruback oversaw the company’s privacy and legal programs in accordance with industry best practices and state and federal laws.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Ruback said, "Given the current environment of increasing privacy regulation and public scrutiny over how businesses use and protect consumer data, organizations are looking to simultaneously optimize the data they collect while reducing reliance on third-party data and empowering consumers with control over how their data is used. I look forward to working with our deep bench of privacy and governance experts at FTI Technology to help our clients solve these and other tough data protection challenges."
